Our Shires Enjoy Life!

Welcome! Haugen-Hill Reg. Shires was established in 1994 with the purchase of a couple of good pedigreed mares from Fox Valley Farms. Many changes have happened since then. One being that we now have farms in two locations, MN and WI, each with a variety of horse specialties available in each area. We are still a small operation, but continue to breed high quality Shires with good dispositions and excellent conformation.
We foal, breed, raise, show, and train our draft horses to ride and drive. We are taking a short break from standing our own stallion. Our time is very limited right now with having started a family. This new avenue is a very exciting time for us as we watch our almost year old little guy grow. Britton loves animals and the horses aren't an exception! We have added a new addition to the farm, so watch for updates! It is Britton's very own "pony"! He loves her to pieces and she's very tolerant of him for being only a five month old baby herself. She is the recipient of a one year old's "not so nice pats" and getting her mane pulled among other things.
We still plan to breed a mare or two a year, however, using frozen and artificial insemination techniques.
Haugen-Hill is also home to registered Holsteins and beef cattle. In addition to milking cows, feedings calves, and caring for all the youngstock there is in total of 1000+ acres of crops to tend to. Soybeans, alfalfa, corn, wheat, and oats are planted and harvested annually. Our milk is marketed Grade A, so only the best feed is fed to our animals (including the equine) to promote production and longevity. Our dairy cattle are bred A.I. with some of the best bulls in the country. In addition, the herd is tested monthly for milk and component data and are occasionally classified through the breed registry, Holstein Association. We do this to see how well we are mating the herd and to get another person's view on how well each individual compares to the breed standard.
Britton and Oreo

Oreo is my mother's beloved, very aged, paint mare. She is just Britton's size...and he loves her dearly!
