Mares of Haugen-Hill

One of the strongest bay mare herds in the U.S.:  Karys, Sara, and Kadyn

Our mares are selected with high standards, as one day they will be required to contribute their genetics to the future's Shire through their offspring.  Our horses are selected for longevity, disposition, and strong pedigrees, both top and bottom.  We've learned that pedigrees are tried and true, so having a deep pedigree is a requirement.  Most of our mares have National Champion and Super Premium Awards portrayed throughout their lineage.  With that said, most have English breeding with one mare even being imported directly from that country.  In order to produce fine, superior Shires of that type in the United States our farm sought after English bred horses as we feel that the English have done a superb job in breeding them over the years.  To prove this, (as of 2006) the past  five ASHA (American Shire Horse Association) National Champion Mares and Stallions have all been imported. Due to this, the quality of the Shire breed has grown immensely over the past decade in the United States.

Our mares are also expected to perform in the show ring.   Strong conformation and a calm disposition is a must.  From fire works exploding overhead to a small child walking into their stall, they must all have a level head.  Their outstanding disposition also enables us to ride and drive all of our horses.  Our stallion is no exception, as he is paired up with them for driving and trail riding often.  As you can see, we have high expectation of our horses.  This is one reason why we feel we are set apart from other breeders.

We invite you to take a closer look at our superior mares by clicking on each of their names below.
